Post Radioshack Programming software setup Reply with quote
I recently bought the Radioshack PRO-2018 which is equivalent to the PRO-82 I also bought the Programming cable, however I cannot find a software program that will communicate with my scanner. I have tried ProLink, but cannot configure it to download from my scanner. I have absolutely no clue on what COM port it is on. If someone could help I would appreciate it. If this PROLINK will not work with my scanner, can someone reccomend one?

ProLink does not support downloading of data from the scanner. It only supports uploading from the computer to the scanner.

Are there any plans to support copying data from the scanner to ProLink?

Not at the moment. The only scanners that ProLink supports do not have that ability anyways.

Mark, Thanks for the info. Do you know if the Pro-94B supports downloading? I have been able to use Prolink Beta 1.1 to upload 200 frequencies to a Pro-94B. I have also tried to upload a group of trunk frequencies. They upload but they aren't trunked. I would also like to be able to upload the full 1000 frequencies the scanner supports. Is it possible to configure Prolink to upload 1000 frequencies or upload frequencies in Trunk groups? Downloading would be nice too, if the scanner is capable. Are any of these changes a possibility for consideration? Thanks.

I was not aware that ProLink was able to support the Pro-94B, that is interesting.

Addition for uploading all 1000 could be done. What is the bank size, and how many are there? Downloading may take quite a bit longer, as I have no way to test it. As for trunking, I'd have to research that a bit more. ProLink was only originally intended to upload conventional frequencies. It may require quite a bit of extra code to add trunking.

Check out this page for software that officially supports the Pro-94.

Post ProLink support for the Pro-94B ? Reply with quote
I created a delimited file with the frequencies I wanted, opened the csv file in Prolink and it takes less than 10 seconds to push 200 freq. to the scanner. I use the "Scanner Control Protocol" and I selected the Pro-2016. The Pro94B has an A and a B bank group, each group contains 10 banks that hold 50 frequencies each. So 2 * 10 * 50 = 1000 frequencies. A lot of the sanning I'm doing is not trunked, so if you were willing to make a version that would push 1000 channels up that would be a great start. Do you know if the Pro-94B is capable of exporing its memory? I think ScanCat does it but I'm not sure.

Yes, I've seen the ScanCat lite site and software. It looks pretty nice, but I'm cheap and I like the thrill of the hunt. If I can find an open source way to do what I want, I'd like that better. If your looking for a new challenge, maybe this is what you've been looking for too. Smile If not, thats cool too. Let me know if I can do any of the leg work to get any info for you. Thanks agian for your time.

ProLink is open source. Smile Feel very brave today?

I will do what I can.. at the moment there aren't really that many new things to put into ProLink, but I am planning on at least one more release this year, along with updated versions of all my other applications.

Patience is a virtue.

According to http://www.glyff.net/index.php.

"03/12/2005 ProLink is now Open Source and has been released under the terms of the GNU General Public License."

Is this incorrect? No bravery required.

If you're looking for things to put into ProLink take a look at ScanCat. I have the patience of Job.

Thanks again.

No, that statement is correct. Per the GPL, you can download the source code for my version of ProLink too (from the ProLink page). The bravery comes in when fiddling with almost uncommented code Laughing.

Due to intellectual copyright issues, I have chosen not to 'copy and paste' features from ScanCat into ProLink. Also, I do not really know how many people use ProLink so I am only going to add features that people will actually use.

If I ever gave any indication that I was going to fiddle around with code, let me set the record straight. I'm not. Smile

I'm not really sure how people use Prolink either. Personally, I'd like to be able to read and write the frequency banks with my frequency's and trunk groups.

Speaking of reading frequency banks, I've read conflicting stories about the Pro-94B's ability to be read. Does anyone have a definitive answer on if the Pro94B is capable of outputting its data?

Waiting patiently for a 1000 channel version of Prolink.... Wink
Thanks again.
